How to remove the transparent film from acrylic products?Updated 2 years ago
Our Acrylic Ornaments and Acrylic products are equipped with a protective transparent film to safeguard against scratches, fingerprints, dust, or any potential damage during delivery. This film may appear in various forms such as transparent, blue, white, or yellow-brown, and it might be challenging to identify with the naked eye. To achieve a clear view of the print and fully utilize the item, it's essential to remove this protective film. Once you remove it, your item will appear significantly clearer and in pristine condition.
Here are some straightforward methods for removing the protective transparent film (cover or foil) on your own:
Option 1: Using your fingernail
To begin, place the acrylic item on a flat surface and start by gently lifting the film from a corner or along the edge using your fingernail. Once you have enough of the film ruffled up to grip, it will easily peel right off. Be cautious not to scratch the acrylic with your nails.
Option 2: Using a plastic pen cap
For larger items, it might be challenging to remove the acrylic film with your bare hands. In this case, we recommend locating a suitable corner of the item and using a rounded plastic object, like the cap of a pen. Apply gentle pressure to lift the film by hand. When you see a small section lifted, use your fingernails to remove it effortlessly.
Option 3: Applying nail polish remover or alcohol
Sometimes, you may also encounter adhesive marks or stickers on the acrylic surface. After removing the adhesive layer, apply a non-greasy nail polish remover to the item's surface and gently wipe it with a soft cloth. Alternatively, industrial alcohol or gasoline can also be used to clear these marks.
Option 4: Using a hairdryer
If the film is not coming off easily, you can try using a hairdryer to heat up the adhesive. Hold the hairdryer a few inches away from the film and move it back and forth over the film until it becomes pliable. Then, slowly peel off the film as before.
Please keep in mind that the film is attached to the acrylic for protective purposes. Regardless of the removal method you choose, take care not to damage the acrylic.
