How to clean my stainless steel tumbler?Updated a year ago
If you're new to caring for your stainless steel drinkware, these instructions on how to clean stainless steel tumblers are incredibly straightforward:
1. Disassemble all components:
Before cleaning, start by separating the tumbler's lid from the main body, allowing every part to be thoroughly exposed to water and soap.
2. Use a sponge or bottle-cleaning brush:
Employ a sponge or a dedicated bottle brush to access the narrow interior of the tumbler and diligently clean every crevice.
Note: Avoid using a metal brush or steel wool on stainless steel, as they can create scratches and etch the metal. These scratches can become magnets for stains, capturing residual coffee and affecting the flavor of future beverages in your tumbler.
3. Scrub with dish soap or detergent:
It's best to utilize mild dish soap and wash the tumbler components in the sink. Ensure thorough rinsing.
Note: Refrain from using bleach on the tumbler, as it breaks down the chromium oxide layer. Without this layer, stainless steel may eventually rust, compromising your tumbler's integrity.
4. Clean the lid:
The tumbler's lid is dishwasher safe for the top rack, but hand washing is recommended. Tumbler lids are prone to bacterial growth and dirt accumulation. For best results, soak the lid in warm, soapy water for approximately 10 minutes to remove any residue. After soaking, give it a thorough scrub and rinse.
5. Allow your tumbler to air dry completely:
After rinsing, let both your tumbler and its lid dry thoroughly. Damp conditions can encourage bacteria growth.
Note: Do not use a microwave with your tumbler. Metal items can interfere with microwave waves, reflecting them back to the source (your microwave), potentially causing damage to the device.
